Secure the Code: Protecting Pre-Release Software

A sanitized portfolio adaptation of a client confidentiality training, demonstrating layered security principles and protection of pre-release software within a SaaS environment.

This project is a sanitized portfolio adaptation of a confidentiality training I originally developed for a client. To protect proprietary information, the industry, company details, visuals, and specific policy language have been intentionally modified. The fictitious organization, Aurelium Labs, and SaaS context were created for demonstration purposes.

The goal of the original training was to translate strict confidentiality expectations into practical, behavior-driven guidance. In this adapted version, I preserved the instructional structure and learning strategy while reframing the content around pre-release software and proprietary development assets.

The experience moves learners from understanding why confidentiality matters to defining key terms, identifying sensitive assets, and exploring layered security practices.

The Process

The course was built in Articulate Storyline using a custom visual system inspired by the concept of layered security. While the content has been rewritten and sanitized, the instructional architecture, interaction patterns, and design decisions reflect the original project.

I structured the learning flow into five focused sections: business impact, terminology, sensitive assets, layered safeguards, and policy reinforcement. The design intentionally balances clarity with visual depth, using progressive reveals to reinforce the idea that protection is multi-layered.

Camtasia was used to refine motion timing and transitions, particularly in slides that rely on staged visual emphasis. The “Layered Security” interaction gradually reveals the background as each protection layer appears, reinforcing the metaphor visually. A separate overlay layer was created for the final confidentiality warning to dim the base slide and direct learner attention to a concise decision rule.

This portfolio sample represents a condensed version of the original course and does not include all modules or compliance components.

The adapted project demonstrates how complex confidentiality requirements can be translated into accessible, engaging microlearning. By combining structured terminology, practical examples, and layered visual storytelling, the experience maintains instructional integrity while protecting client confidentiality.

This sample highlights my ability to:

  • Modernize compliance-focused content

  • Design visually cohesive Storyline experiences

  • Integrate Camtasia for refined pacing and motion

  • Reframe sensitive subject matter responsibly for portfolio use

While this version has been intentionally generalized, it reflects the strategy and design approach used in the original client engagement.
